JUST TRUST THE LORD

I was sitting in chapel when the preacher opened the floor for testimonies. A woman to my right jumped up and said she wanted to share how the Lord had answered her prayer. She was scheduled for release in a couple of months, but she was facing a pending charge with the possibility of a life sentence.

She said, "I prayed and just trusted the Lord to do His will." She heard back from her attorney, and it looked like she would only be doing two years probation. She was crying as she shared her story, and everyone was so happy for her.

I then thought about my day. I was waiting to hear back from the Parole Board with my release date. It has been just over a week since I had stood before the board. This morning my boss sent me to see my parole officer, and he gave me a release date for 2022. I was in shock! I was hoping for a date in 2020.
During the last week I had prayed for God´s will in regards to my release date. Hundreds of Christians all over the world were praying for me, too. What went wrong? Nothing did.

God answered my prayer with His will, not mine. You know it is easy to trust the Lord when we get what we want. I thought of the woman´s testimony. Everyone was thrilled to hear her story, but what about mine? Would they be just as happy to hear how God answered my prayer? Would you?

Proverbs 3:4 and 5 says, "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." God promises to guide each of His children. The secret consists of having faith, of surrendering our wills to God, and bringing our ways into submission to His will revealed in the Word of God.

Trusting isn´t easy especially when the way is rough, but it is so worth it. The peace you get when you give everything to the Lord and rest in Him has no price. Trust Him, and you´ll be in the best hands!

Trust and obey, for there´s no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.
