A BIRTHDAY IN PRISON

I started celebrating my birthday early as my husband and several friends sent me birthday cards. In prison you appreciate any and all communication with family and friends. Sunday evening a former roommate stopped by my room with a birthday card she had made for me, and a few minutes later brought me a small cake she had made. I find it so humbling when other inmates show me kindness and friendship.

One of my roommates got mad at our former roommate who had given me the birthday card and told me she never wanted to see her at our door again. My roommate told me to tell my friend that she wasn't allowed to come by our door. I told her I would not do that as it would be very rude, and my roommate exploded. I cannot repeat what was said, but I was so upset I was shaking.

Monday another dear friend met me on the yard and gave me a Snicker bar and a birthday card. Throughout the day several inmates wished me a happy birthday. I am so thankful that God has given me another year of life. I am so thankful for the friends I have here in prison. I am so thankful for my friends and family on the outside. I'm so thankful for God's protection.

"Casting all your care upon him for he careth for you." I Peter 5:7
