HOW GREAT THOU ART

When you have so much time to think, you notice things you took for granted before. As I walk back to my room after dinner, I notice the sunset. After chapel, I notice the stars in the the sky. I have been reading through the book of Jeremiah in the Bible and certain verses kept catching my attention.

Jeremiah 5:22 "Fear ye not me? saith the Lord: will ye not tremble at my presence, which have placed the sand for the bound of the sea by a perpetual decree, that it cannot pass it: and though the waves thereof toss themselves, yet can they not prevail; though they roar, yet can they not pass over it?"

Jeremiah 5:24 "Neither say they in their heart, let us now fear the Lord our God, that giveth rain, both the former and the latter, in his season: he reserveth unto us the appointed weeks of the harvest."

Jeremiah 10:12-13 "He hath made the earth by his power, he that established the world by his wisdom,  and hath stretched out the heavens by his discretion. When he uttereth his voice, there is a multitude of waters in the heavens, and he causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth; he maketh lighnings with rain, and bringeth forth the wind out of his treasurers."

Jeremiah 14:22 "Are there any among the vanities of the Gentiles that can cause rain? or can the heavens give showers? art not thou he, O Lord our God? therefore we will wait upon thee: for thou hast made all these things."

Jeremiah 10:6  "Forasmuch as there is none like unto thee, O Lord; thou art great, and thy name is great in might."

I thought of this hymn next:

Oh Lord my God when I in awesome wonder
Consider all the worlds thy hands have made.
I see the stars I hear the rolling thunder,
Thy power throughout the universe displayed.

I take the weather for granted. I assume it will rain, snow, freeze, flood, and so on whenever it wants. We as humans try to predict and even control the weather, but God wants us to know and acknowledge that He controls nature, and that control demonstrates His greatness.

So when you are outside or inside looking out at nature and the weather, remember the Creator and marvel at His greatness and His control. Listening to music one day I heard this song....

REDEEMER  by Nicole Mullen

Who taught the sun where to stand in the morning?
And who told the ocean you can only come this far?
And who showed the moon where to hide ´til evening?
Whose words alone can catch a falling star?

I know my Redeemer lives
I know my Redeemer lives
All of creation testifies
This life within me cries
I know my Redeemer lives.
